Even though his debut album LongLiveA$AP only just hit shelves earlier today, A$AP Rocky's crew-cut "1 Train" has been garnering a lot of talk from listeners. Now, in a recent interview with Hot 97's Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg via RapRadar, Rocky explains who he thinks has the best verse.
Of an ensemble featuring Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson and himself, Rocky said he thinks it's Big K.R.I.T. who has the winning verse on the song. Rocky also spoke on the song's title, explain that he viewed each emcee along the 1 train which he rode growing up.
"[K.R.I.T.] rips the whole track," he said. "I'ma be honest, I think it is [the best verse], man. Me and [Ebro Darden] were going back and forth about it before…we was debating 'cus it's just like, you can't really say one it better than the other, because everybody is different on it and you can't really compare one rapper to another…I'ma have to go with K.R.I.T. though, man. I told him to do 16 bars, and he did about 120."
He added, "I was just thinking of each artist as a different train stop, and when you hear that beat, it just brings me back to like - well, for me, it brings me back to being at the bus stop or being on the train early in the morning, cold, mad at life on the way to school late. I'm showing up third period - that's the 1 train. Anything is better than the 1 train."
