Big Boi recently chopped it up with Hard Knock TV, discussing everything from his new album Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors to the scheme that he and Andre 3000 concocted to get free CDs when they were young. He also turned his attention to Dr. Dre's The Chronic, explaining why it impacted him and what he found so special about the LP.
"The Chronic album definitely stood out," he said. "One of the main reasons to me is how it was put together. It was a real cinematic, for one. For two, Dr. Dre was introducing some of the most lethal emcees back then. Snoop, Kurupt... There was a whole crew of fresh, young cats coming out over Dr. Dre production. The skits and everything tied the whole album together."
He also touched on how he managed to get an unreleased Pimp C verse for bonus track "Gossip," which also features Bun B and Big K.R.I.T. He says he had it for years from an old Organized Noize song and decided that he could use it for this project. "
"Had it for years. Organized Noize was on a record a long time ago that was unreleased or whatever, and then I had it for my last record. UGK is one of my favorite groups ever, and having Big K.R.I.T. and Bun and Pimp C on the record over an Organized Noize track is a dream come true."
