  • Questlove of The Roots Planning To Release Memoir This Summer

The Roots drummer and music producer Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson is about to join other Hip-Hop legends-turned-authors like LL Cool J, Eminem, and Common when he releases his memoir Mo’ Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove on June 18th by Grand Central Publishing.

The book, co-written with New Yorker editor Ben Greenman, will be a mixture of autobiographical stories and Thompson’s take on Hip-Hop, pop culture, and music in general.

Mo’ Meta Blues is “a punch-drunk memoir in which everyone’s favorite Questlove tells his own story while tackling some of the lates, the greats, the fakes and the true originals of the music world,” according to a press a release.

The man behind the production of songs by D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, and Bilal has been busy in other areas besides authoring a book. Questlove is teaching a classic albums course at New York University, and he has also been working with his Roots crew to produce a joint project with British rock icon Elvis Costello before the band drops their next album tentatively titled & Then You Shoot Your Cousin.

The Roots are currently the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Their last studio LP, 2011′s concept album Undun, was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 55th annual Grammy Awards.

The Roots will also be a part of the stellar line-up for the Prince tribute at Carnegie Hall on March 7.
