  • Scarface Says "Hip Hop Is White Now," Blames Record Executives

Scarface recently vented about his frustrations with record label executives and Hip Hop. In an interview with Hardknock TV, Face shared his displeasure by speaking on how he feels race and racism affect the music that is released by record companies.

"I feel like we losing it," Face said in the clip. "I feel like the people that are in control of what Hip Hop does is so fucking White and so fucking Jewish and so they don't give a fuck about what the culture and the craft really is about."

Scarface paused at this point and said he wanted to clarify.

"Let me say this shit right because I want this to be as offensive as I can fuckin' make it for these old-ass punks that's running these record labels that's in the powerful positions to dictate what the Black community hears and listens to. I fucking hate that shit. That shit pisses me off," he added.

"There's no fucking way that you can tell me that it's not a conspiracy against the Blacks in Hip Hop. You put out fucking records that make us look stupid. You make us look dumb. You brainwash a generation of Hip Hoppers with this fucking crud and then when these other rappers come out, splitting it down the middle, these other rappers' shit sound like 'Wow!' Y'all look great!' 'Y'all look stupid!' ... Then mothafuckers start going over here and pretty soon, Hip Hop is White now."

Scarface has been rapping as a solo artist and group member with Geto Boys since the early 1990s. Scarface has also been in charge of Def Jam South in the past. Less than a year ago, Scarface spoke with HipHopDX's current Editor-in-Chief Justin Hunte regarding his take on the new generation of emcees and Hip Hop. Speaking of this, he said, "I think that anything goes in Hip Hop these days. I blame everybody who came before right now, including myself, for the conditions of what it is. I think the people that came before me taught me and if I couldn’t reach nobody else, then I didn’t do my job. I should’ve been a little better about the way that I laid my blueprint down. So I have nobody to blame but myself for the conditions of Hip Hop today."

I definitely understand what face is saying, but i blame it on a change in the musc landscape more than anything. Everything these days is dance/electro, plus alot of the rappers are now into alternate lifestyles (eg skateboarding)

Congratulations, Hip-Hop, you're now a real, major musical genre: you can legitimately bitch about 'the man' diluting your art with pop music, keeping the real, quality music from being heard by pop music-sized audiences. It's pointless to complain about this, as you will never stop it. Ask RocknRoll and Country and Soul. Unless you're an obscure genre like Cuban Polka Death Metal, you're fucked in this regard. Profiteers gonna eat yo spleen, mofo-mofo-mofo.

I completely agree with him the old school is classic now just like rock fromthe 70s iis. We will never get those great sounds again that's why they are so great and timeless.
                    Love.

First, Hip hop evolves, the bad point is evolves the wrong way. Back in the day Hip Hop was made to spread a message, it was an opportunity to those who need it to express and tell the world about things they were facing all day everyday.

2nd point is, there were always white people around HipHop, as MCs, remember the Beastie Boys. Concerning the business, some people gotta keep in mind that white people helped, Rick Rubin created DefJam along with Russell Simmons later. An other example is Ted Demme who created Yo! MTV Raps, i mean it's not a bad thing that whites rap, the main problem is "Is there a message behind the lyrics? Is it good?"

When i listen to rapper's lyrics like Rick Ross, Lil' Wayne or the whole new scene Tyga, Future, Trinidad James etc i'm like "WTF"

For those who don't know TriniBAD James

Trinidad James sounds like a subliterate jackboot punk. lol. "Nigganigganigganigga" <-- sounds like the kids in my neighborhood. Stupid fuckers.

Gangsta rap is shit and gangsta rappers should feel like shit. 'Spreading the message' I think is/was very rare. Mostly it's glorifying violence and putting on hypermasculinity to talk yourself up. It has *nothing* to do with talking about what a subjugated class is going through every day, telling stories, but reveling in ignorance, misogyny, and hatred. Being a violent gun-toting fool waddling about with pants around your kness is not cool, it's the epitomy of idiocy. If every other word out of your mouth 'nigga' then you are a dumbfuck. It's that simple.

Gangsta rap culture is a bizarre societal construct. To take a step back and look at it like an anthropologist is fascinating. It's obvious how it all came about, but why does it persist?

There's still plenty of gangsta rap I like, mostly all from my formative years, but still most of it (almost all new shit?) is not just trash, it's far worse than that. I suppose that's just how pop music works: most of it is crap, and when young and impressionable you are more susceptible to its influences.

Back in the days (yeah, i'm old too), when i was listenin to an album, i use to pay more attention to it, to lyrics and instrumental, reason? Because u had to buy it, no download but u could copy from tape to tape ha ha, anyway, back then i feel like even if u had some party tracks on an album, u still had few ones that make u stop bullshittin and think, listenin to wise words etc...

Now it's all trash to me, sounds like they copy and paste lyrics from their previous shitty single to the next one, only thing that make me analyzin the track is the instrumental
