but frankly i do agree a bit, you have to be strong minded to quit something, it takes power of will. You have to set ur mind. Weak minds get crushed, u have to be able to say NO to that little voice inside ur head that whispers, gimme this or gimme that. I didnt experience with super hard drugs and thank god for that, but i did struggle with certain things and i've learned that ur mind has to be clean. It is a disease in a way but you have to be strong in order to beat it.
well put.... but in order to beat it you gotta want it also. Thats where the strong part of the mind yo0u gotta be. you want to end up dead, prison, psych ward. I'm going extreme but thats seriously what happens to those tht have the 'disease" I know I do.....

Just search on the net you'll see.

Most medical doctors, rehabs, detox, AA's CA's NA"s all describe it as a disease....

I did want to act like an ass when I quoted you but I know my stuff my girfriend also works in addiction and has a bachelor in university in which they also describe it as a disease
Let me tell you about the medical community. According to them, practically everything is a disease!!!! Drugs & alcohol is something that you introduce to your body and depending on who you are, you may either become addicted or not. So how can this be a disease??? Your body begins to crave what it is introduced to, cigarettes, drugs, alcohol. The mind controls the body, not the other way around. A strong will is what wins in these situations, am I wrong????

thats exactly the disease part. Nicotine is not a disease because it is not a mind altering drug/alcohol. When you drink or get high it alters your behaviour.

The medical comunity is recently saying its a disease before it was not considered one.

After yrs and yrs of doing drugs your destroy your serotonin and your dopamine (pleasure) in your brain. Medical researchers also found a "tock or tick" in brains of alcoholics after they died. When compared to regular people or drinkiers who can drink normally that (tick or tock) is not there.

I'll call the last rehab place i did to get the exact term and post it tomorrow.

You can call it a disease as the "medical community" does but it still indicates as having an addiction.

Over drinking causes cirrhosis of the liver, now that is a disease. Just as cigarettes can cause cancer, another disease.

So now matter how you slice this pie, over indulgence of these = addiction.

Tyhats your opinion, then how come one person can do cocaine one time and get addicted and the next guy will do it one time and not get addicted. Its something in the brain that gets you addicted kinda liek something in your dna that will likely make you have cancer that specific cancer over another

I respect your view but you are wrong IMO

Would you care to share your drug background and where you get your info or is this just something you believe?

disease does not equal an addiction.

over indulgence of these = addiction. I have a buddy of mine thatdoes coke here and there he can do like 1000$ one month and then for 4-5 montyhs not do anyhthing and then do it again all over... is that addiction. An addiction is soemthing you need everyday.......

anyways. I'll get that info for you and you can make an opinion on it after.

Sounds to me like you friend has a some what solid constitution if he's able to do that from time to time. As I mentioned before, it's about your will-power.

How can someone liking the high drugs and alcohol offers, be a disease, that doesn't make sense.

You do know that your first hit is never than same as the rest. Why do you think people drink so much, in order to get that full high.

Only problem is your body is used to it, so it takes more to get that high.

Plus, your body is craving it now. So how can this be classified as a disease???????

When drugs become psychologically addictive , thats when its real bad I believe .. Physical addiction can still b treated one way or another.. But when ur mind cant live without it.. Ur basically fucked.. I agree with whoever this guy is for the most part..

thats stupid imo, drinking to get the first high. I mean u drink to get drunk or w.e, drinking ends up always the same, it's not like some psychedelic drug or crack or MDMA.

I dont think this rule applies to Drinking and smoking cigs. I do smoke cigs, but its not because i'm chasing that first puff i ever took.

You drink to get a nice buzz, which is basically a type of high. Some folks sometimes use it as 'liquid courage', but most like the feeling alcohol gives them.

I can drink two beers and get a nice buzz off of them or I can drink a Long Island Iced Tea and be good for the night.

You know why...because I don't drink that often to the point where my body has become used to it.

So I can get a nice buzz or high with a small amount of alcohol, not having to over do it.
