  • Eminem "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" First Week Sales Projections

Eminem's "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" predicted to sell between 700,000 and 750,000 units in its first week.

    DETROITS FINEST

Detroit rapper Eminem’s eighth studio album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, was released yesterday (November 5) and already sales predictions for Em’s latest project are beginning to surface.

According to Billboard.com, the album could possibly sell between 700,000 and 750,000 units in its first week and in the process will likely secure the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

Additionally, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 could possibly find itself in a similar position as Eminem’s last album, Recovery. Released in June 2010, Recovery sold 741,000 copies in its first week.

If sales projections are correct, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will not surpass record-breaking first week sales set by crooner Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience. Released in March of this year, The 20/20 Experience sold over 900,000 copies in its first week, a total well above the predicted 800,000 units.

Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will instead secure the spot for the album with the second best first week sales this year.

Another artist making noise this week as far as album sales are concerned is Canadian singer/rapper Drake. The Young Money emcee’s latest album, Nothing Was The Same, was certified platinum this week after selling over one million units.

Serving as a sequel to The Marshall Mathers LP, which was released in 2000, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 includes guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar and Rihanna as well as production from Rick Rubin. Em spoke briefly on the process of creating the newly-released album during an interview with Rolling Stone this month.

"I feel like right now I'm probably working harder than I've ever worked in my life," said the Detroit wordsmith. "And I've probably worked harder on this record than any other record aside from maybe the time period during The Eminem Show, which is a little hazy 'cause just so much shit was going on at that time. Just being so busy with The Eminem Show and doing the 8 Mile movie, and the soundtrack and the score to the movie. This is probably the equivalent of that but all focused on the record mostly."

Not eminem. not when he's doing solo stuff. I bet if D12 comes out with something they'll do 400k maybe. but eminem always going to top the charts.
