  • Kendrick Lamar Describes Approach To Eminem Collaboration "Love Game"

Kendrick Lamar is the only guest rapper on Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP 2. The emcee says he felt reassured to be on the album.

"It's definitely reassurance that I need to keep approaching [music] the way I approach it," Kendrick Lamar says in a recent interview with MTV. "You're only good as your last song, your last verse, your last hook, your last show — and going in with that mind state already, I had to put that in my head times 10 because this is Eminem. This is one of the greatest guys to do it. So I had that mentality walking in there and I put my best foot forward."

Eminem spoke about this collaboration during a town hall style question and answer session mediated by Shade 45.

"I got a chance to chop it up with [Kendrick Lamar] in Detroit," Eminem said. "He's a really cool dude, super humble and super cool. I liked him as a person. The fact that he's on Aftermath, we're on the same label, it just made sense. I'm super grateful that he did it. He killed it."

In August, Kendrick Lamar spoke about wanting to collaborate with Eminem.

"I wish," Lamar said in an interview with Los Angeles radio station Power 106. "We haven't really gotten a chance to build in the studio like that. I basically just met him for a second. But if I get that call, I'm definitely running."
