it was announced today that on May 13th Epic Records, in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, will release XSCAPE, an album of new music by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. XSCAPE is executive produced by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid. After mining by the Estate of Jackson’s archives, Reid was granted unlimited access to the treasures spanning four decades of material on which Jackson had completed his vocals. Reid then teamed up top producers to “contemporize” the songs while retaining Jackson’s essence and integrity, creating the best music you’ve never heard.

The list of producers include global hitmakers Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and John McClain.

The new album will feature eight brand new recordings. A Deluxe Edition of XSCAPE will include a selection of the recordings in their original form.

The title of this album honors Michael’s album naming process. He always chose a song from the album to name his projects and, beginning with THRILLER, used only one word titles, each with an edgy quality to them. This is true of the new project.

John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson said, “Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision.”

maybe they didn't wanted to realese it after all the bad comments on the net, cuz Justin bieber probably worked with the estate to get the masters etc for doing the remix.

Plus I don't remember where I red it, they went from 24 songs to release for this album to 8 songs......

the bieber remix was probably one of them

about the album, they are really snakes lol, just eight songs, and 6 of them are already on the net ^^, if the strategy was to released officialy leaked songs, they could at least put more of them and not just eight, something like 14 tracks retail and cd2 14 originals would have been perfect.

Plus the problem with MJ's original, is that he worked on some songs for many years, wich " OG " did they put on the album ? Xscape the 99 version demo leaked on the net, and rumors say that the 2003 version MJ was working on is way better than the previous one, in this Xscape album wich OG will we have now ? 99 or 2003, some of his songs have been created during thriller, bad era and he reworked on them during invincible for exemple..... maybe in the future we will have boxsets with complete work on progress songs lol, that's my dream ....

Just posted about this in another thread; check out what I said

Michael Jackson's new album is doing this. deluxe edition, one disc remixes the other originals. They hey posted both a original version and a remix version with Justin Timberlake.

The other good thing is the demo of the song they posted been online for years and it was slightly different then the original they posted. Same elements but it was like comparing a original to a R U Still Down tweaked version. But for all we know the demo that leaked may or may not have been the final version of the original. But they should really do that with the originals, mix them down properly such as what may occurred for this new Michael Jackson album; Xscape.

Some vocals were removed from the outro of his song I noticed, the beat was slightly modified and the intro beat was adjusted. But other then that it was the same. It was like how Amaru did Hold On Be Strong, When I Get Free, Only Fear Of Death etc.

There are three version of this song on the album, so I am not sure if a cdq of the demo will be on there or not

                    Demo version, leaked for years

Mixed Down Original on the album; What you guys this is this a modernized remix or just a different mixdown of the original? After hearing it again it sounds like another remix

The Remix (still sounds a bit like the original)

See that is the same thing they do with 2Pac. They go over songs, hear two songs with the same lyrics and only release one damn version instead of releasing both and getting them both out there. They could have easily put the other Xscape on here and labeled it 2003 version.

And my other gripe, is long time fans will be able to tell where the song came from. They will be able to tell which Michael era the song is from. Tons of people called out on Never felt so good from being from the off the wall era in 1982. So you see they are mixing different decades of Michael together. A 1982 track with a 1999 or 2003 track.....Totally different style, concepts, voice tone, flow etc. I am sure there is enough in the vault to make tracks that actually were from the same time period into a cohesive album. Instead you get 20 year old michael with 50..... lol. That is worse then AEOM era 2Pac with Makaveli era, or 1991 Pac with 1994 Pac.

They did this to 2Pac and now they are doing it Michael, which is far worse because he lived longer, his career is 40 plus years!

That's not the demo? I'll have to keep looking lol

So that does make sense that both versions they posted are remixes. But its nice to see that they both keep the vibe of the original and not a complete change like what Amaru let happen songs like Whatz Next lol

yea the original demo is just mike singing over snapping and the piano... and it seems all the remixes are just new elements added over that... the quality is not as good as it could have been had they been able to use the master... very sad quality mj i dont think would have liked this at all

Just downloaded it, not sure if I got the remix versions or the OG or a mixture of both. I am just now listening to the first track. It is Never felt so good original. You are right about the quality! Strange that this is not perfectly clear even though they were able to remix the song. The piano could be higher. Original is still a good track!

I didn't know the album leaked already until you posted. I will buy the deluxe version no matter what though.
