Queen is set to release a new album later this year, featuring previously unreleased songs sung by late lead singer Freddie Mercury, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Queen guitarist Brian May spoke with BBC Wales radio host Wynne Evans Friday, revealing that the new compilation album would most likely be called Queen Forever and include new tracks with Mercury singing, mostly taken from the '80s.
"It is quite emotional," May said. "It is the big, big ballads and the big, big epic sound. It wouldn't have been if we hadn't done this restoration job. We had to start from scratch because we only had scraps. But knowing how it would have happened if we had finished it, I can sit there and make it happen with modern technology."
May talked plans for a new album with USA TODAY last fall, then aiming for a summer 2014 release. "The music is there and it's great," May said. "We keep finding more and more tapes, so we'll certainly be working on stuff that sounds like new Queen tracks in the next few months."
Queen is hitting the road with Adam Lambert this summer for its first U.S. tour in eight years. The 18-city tour kicks off in Chicago June 19.
