  • How do you think about HIPHOP nowadays?

Drop your thoughts here about what you think about hiphop nowadays.
Everybody should've noticed its a lot of different from what is was (lol).
Almost every rapper's first intention is to make money, make the club bangers.
Auto-tuning their voice so they pretend like they can sing, some of those tracks are nice, but where does this gonna end?

    And another question:
Which rapper do you respect for what he does nowadays?

I think it's horrible, just horrible. About 99% of mainstream music is rushed and uninspired; only created to make a quick buck. You also have to blame the fans for this; as they have gotten increasingly remedial throughout the years; they wouldn't know bad music even if it stuck a fist up their asses. Finally you have veterans like Jay-Z, who should be setting the example by actually being the talented one making the music but instead he joins the bandwagon and dumbs his material down as well.

At least you have artists such as Lupe Fiasco and The Game making mainstream music the way it should be made; though Game is more questionable now that he put out a single for his new album featuring Gucci Mane, another abomination the the Hip Hop scene; The RED album isn't looking to live up to his past 3.

man.. i dont even listen to the radio anymore.. i dont even know how people can stand that crap.. i stop listening to the radio in about 04.. i think that was the last of the good rap music.. and that wasnt even that good... but still listenable..

rap is just not the same as it used to be... its something completely different almost.. i think they should be calling this music something else and stop giving the real rap/hip hop a bad name...

Lil' Wayne is part of the problem; he's just as bad as Souljah Boy & Gucci Mane.

It's pop garbage. I mostly only listen to shit from the 90s & a little 80s. The newest tracks I like are Lil Wayne "Lollipop" & T.I. "Whatever You Like". I only like them for the beats. I'm sick of hearing autotune on everything. It's sad that even good artists have sold out to today's crap. Nobody can be original anymore. It's the same thing being put out over & over.

When people ask me what music I'm into, I say Hip-Hop but i quickly add "old school" because i would be embarassed to say i was a fan of todays hip-hop (which im not). Terrible music being put out now.

Indeed, nice to see all to those reactions, I feel fcking the same about it.
Its all about money and add a little electronic up-tempo beat to it so everybody can bounch to it in the club (I fcking wouldn't!!!!).
C'mon on man, music is on a low quality nowadays, take Britney Spears, here comeback, I never seen a fucked up track as hers, the only thing she's says in the chorus is 1,2,3 if you wanna come with me (or something like that), now thats music! (sarcasm)
And uhh to answer my own question, which rapper I respect nowadays, should be Jay-z (new track empire state of mind is good) and a few others (don't know which at the moment)

i dont think it is that bad, but in order to find the good rap nowdayz you have to go underground. mainstreem is just to fakey, i only listen to a few mainstreem rappers. em, 50, well thats about it lol. but artist like cormega, raekwon, slaughterhouse, andre nickatina, the dayton family are holdin it down nicely.
