LATEST: R&B star AKON has hit back at claims he assaulted two female fans at a concert last month 30Aug08 and released video footage of the event to prove he is innocent.
Edited footage of a gig in Guyana, South America appeared to show the Senegalese-born star striking two women while he crowd-surfed. The incident came just a year after he was charged by police for allegedly throwing a fan into the crowd during a gig in Fishkill, New York.But Akon's publicist has released new footage of the Guyana concert, taken from another angle, which shows a different side to the story.The new tape shows Akon struggling to his feet on a camera platform in the crowd. His rep tells WENN, "The unedited footage shows Akon struggling to find his balance and accidentally knocking into her (one woman). He did not let her fall and gave her a hug and then they started dancing. You can see her smiling."Concert promoters Hits & Jams entertainment also dismissed the claims - insisting no complaints were made by fans.
