  • Shyne Contemplating Cash Money LP To Drop Same Day As Project On Def Jam

After serving nearly decade in prison, Shyne is finally gearing up for the release of Gangland in December, via Def Jam with whom he inked a seven-figure deal with earlier this year.

However, the rapper is contemplating the notion to drop a whole separate project at the same time, and with another label.

Via a Skype inteview with MTV, Shyne says he has so much material, he might plan to drop an album with Cash Money.

"I'm just making albums at this point. I'm on my fifth album," Shyne tells MTV. "I'm not sure, me and Baby [Birdman] been talking. We been talking about doing the Cash Money thing where I put one album out on Def Jam, distributed by Def Jam, and Baby [will] distribute one album on Cash Money."

The LP with Cash Money would be called Messiah, and would be released the same day Gangland would be released, and would follow with more projects just six months after.

"I might do that. I'm not sure," the rapper continued. "We're still finishing the fine points and negotiating that. Maybe I'll come with something six months later, [maybe] every six months. I've got so much to say, you dig? I don't think I can answer all the questions on one album. So I definitely think we can put out two different albums on the same day at the end of the year, then come back with a third one or another double set six months later. Get all this sh** off my chest."

Shyne goes on to explain that he and Cash Money have had a long-running relationship, dating back to his Bad Boy Records day, and before the now-infamous New York nightclub shooting that got him 10 years in prison. He says that before he was sent away, he was supposed to go on tour with Birdman, and during his prison stint has been in constant contact with the Cash Money Records founder.

Then, when he was finally released, Birdman reached out, and they've recently began talks about this Messiah project.

"[Birdman] was gonna take me on tour with them, then I got locked up," said Shyne. "He reached out to me and let me know if there was anything he could do to assist. When I was about to come out, he reached out to me again to see if there was anything he could do to help me. We've always had an open line of communication through the same banner, through the same rag. That's inevitable. I've got the utmost respect for what he does. [Baby's] a real roller, putting it in. He built Cash Money from nothing to something that's been great. Wayne, what's up. Rikers Island, I know the brothers is taking care of you in there. So Cash Money is definitely family."

As far as Gangland, he tells MTV that a video for his new song, "The Roller Song," will hit outlets in a few weeks.
