  • Wiz Khalifa Arrested In North Carolina For Marijuana Possession

Buzzing rapper Wiz Khalifa was arrested in Greenville, North Carolina during the early morning hours of Tuesday (November 9) for marijuana possession.

The Pittsburgh rapper was in town for a show at East Carolina University, in which he performed in front of nearly 1,500 students who started a Facebook petition this summer calling for him to perform at their campus. The college kids pooled together $10,000 to bring Wiz to their school.

After the show, Wiz was stopped by campus police as he headed to his tour bus outside the venue.

"He was on his way with his band to his bus parked outside, and they stopped him because of a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the bus and the backstage area of the auditorium," John Durham, a spokesperson for East Carolina University, told MTV.

"They asked if he would cooperate with officers, and he agreed, and they went on his bus, and then he and nine members of his entourage were arrested on three charges related to marijuana possession," he continued.

During the search, police found more than 60 grams of pot, equivalent of about 2 ounces.

A fan-filmed clip of the arrest was uploaded to Youtube shortly after, showing the rapper being cuffed outside his tour bus and being carted away by police.

He was charged with a felony count of trafficking in marijuana, a felony count of maintaining a dwelling/vehicle/place for sale or storage of marijuana, and one misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, reports MTV.

Wiz was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center around 1:30 a.m., later posted $300,000 bail, and was released around 8 a.m.

Wiz' last tweet (@RealWizKhalifa) before his arrest came around 4:30 PM EST, where he wrote this message: "Smoke outs greenville, nc tonight. fall thru wit ur finest plant life."

The 23-year-old rapper (real name: Cameron Jibril Thomaz), whose current hit "Black and Yellow" is in heavy rotation around the country, is known for his love for weed. In a past interview, Wiz boasted about spending around $10,000 a month, just on marijuana.

After his release, the rapper hopped on Twitter (@RealWizKhalifa) and had this to say about the experience: "waken...baken...wrist still achin. thnx for tha love and support ... man, jail sux! but bein taylor'd doesn't."

The arrest doesn't seem to the bothering the young rapper whatsoever.

This is extremely annoying news knowing pot should be regulated just like alcohol, not to mention it has been proved not to be harmful herb at all. Honestly think we wont see legalization since whole war on drugs would collapse like a house of cards after that and countless people would lose their jobs which would expose this whole system. I think theres alot of needless jobs in this society but what can you do, you gotta do something to get your bread.

ps. Never heard of this wiz khalifa before

ECU Students: Not Surprised With Wiz Khalifa Arrest

^-- fun times in the comments. Still have no idea who this guy is (dont care either).

"Sir, if Rap music has made the black community more relevant, I challenge you to show me how. I can't think of anything more irrelevant. Black Rap culture on a whole is common, low-life, drug addicted, lawless thugs. How can this be "relevant" in today's society unless you're talking about unemployment, government programs or the prison system? Black Rap culture has no place in my life. Even Rap music in commercials makes me sick. I don't even want to think about it...how's that for relevant? "

              Werd'em'up.
