Over the course of his 19-year career Eminem has grown from his early days as a fierce battle rapper before morphing into a global icon, becoming the highest selling act in the United States last year with his seventh studio album Recovery selling near 3 and a half million copies. With Eminem’s still formidable fame surging, the rapper has taken on the role of festival rocker in this current phase of his career. Eminem’s latest confirmed big venue conquest will be the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival in Montreal this coming July.
Slim Shady will join fellow headliners Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Death Cab For Cutie and The Flaming Lips – The Flaming Lips will reportedly perform their popular and career defining 1999 album The Soft Bulletin in full. Although the festival is a little light in the hip hop category, Eminem won’t be the only rapper present in the rock dominated lineup. Former lonely stoner Kid Cudi has been announced as one of the featured acts. Talented Canadian rapper Shad has also been included in the three day event which takes place on July 29-31.
While there have been rumors and rumblings of a domestic tour, Eminem has opted to play big shows almost exclusively. The Detroit bad boy will be a headlining act at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee this coming June. Eminem will also head across the pond this August to play the V Festival along with past collaborator and pop princess Rihanna. During the same month, Eminem will also be rocking out in Chicago at the Lollapalooza festival.
