Bun B has announced plans to release the final Underground Kingz (UGK) album, For Life, in honor of his deceased partner Pimp C.
The album is reportedly being released March 31st via Jive Records.
"This will be a good bookend to the legacy of myself and Pimp," Bun said. "And definitely take not just the group, but Pimp C, to true legend and iconic status. This album is not about who I wanna work with and what kind of beats I wanna do -- this album is about what the people wanna hear, and that's Bun and Pimp. And I wanna try to give that to them in the most purest sense." (MTV)
The duo's last project was 2007's UGK release.
Underground Kingz is a special 2 CD set. Not only that, folks celebrating UGK's return are a veritable who's who of the inner circle, and they lined up to lend their talents for UGK's eighth. They include Three 6 Mafia, Lil Jon, Scarface, Too $hort, T.I., Rick Ross, Slim Thug, Andre 3000 and more. (Amazon)
Pimp C's unexpected passing in December 2007 from medical complications has affected various Southern rap stars.
"A year has passed since the Pimp died and he is still missed everyday," Slim Thug told SOHH. According to the Houston based rapper, Pimp is definitely living on through his music. "I hear him sampled on hooks and hear all the good music he made while alive and I know we will never forget what he did for Texas," he said. "It's UGK4life b*tttccch!" (SOHH)
Bun B and Pimp C's iconic group has over two decades of history.
