  • Ice-T Nicknames Rick Ross 'Identity Crisis' For Stealing Freeway Rick's Name

Throughout his career, Ice-T has never shied away from controversy. In the early 1990s, he stirred up things, when he dropped the song "Cop Killer" with his band, Body Count. But more recently, Ice got into a online back-n-forth with Soulja Boy after he accused the young rapper of single-handedly "killing hip-hop."

Now, the rapper/actor just may stir up something new ... with Miami rap star, Rick Ross.

In a media conference for an upcoming VH1 documentary he executive produced, titled "Planet Rock: The Story of Hip-Hop and the Crack Generation," Ice was overheard talking about Ross -- who is a subject of the doc during a segment on former drug kingpin Freeway Rick Ross -- to VH1 cameras, during which he revealed a nickname he has for him.

"Rick Ross stole a n****'s name. I call him 'Identity Crisis,' " Ice told cameras, reports Vibe.com.

In a short clip from the documentary (below), which airs on Sunday (September 18 ), Freeway Rick details how he felt when he first began hearing about the rapper, Rick Ross.

"Rick Ross stole my name and my identity," Freeway Ricky says. "He's been living the fraud. He's never sold drugs. He was a correctional officer. He's not me. He's not Rick Ross. They wouldn't give me a job to be a correctional officer, I guarantee you."

In addition to Rozay, Ice-T went on to give details about the doc and what viewers can expect.

"It's an authentic film," he shares. "I never sold drugs. I had other hustles I was involved with. We had Snoop and [Cypress Hill's] B-Real -- basically the movie is just showing how these kids that were actually on the streets hustling ended up making it and why the music reflected it. It just takes u through that era that some of us lived through. Hopefully it will open people's eyes and people can get a better understanding of that era."

"Hip-Hop and the Crack Generation" airs on VH1 on September 18 at 10/9 p.m. C.
