  • DMX Says He's Finally Conquered His Drug Addictions

DMX is trying really hard to stay on the straight and narrow ... and so far, so good. After making his return on the stage of the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards, and doing a live interview on "106 & Park," the rapper now says he's kicked his drug habit.

X recently spoke to TMZ, who says after years of drug abuse (which resulting in multiple incarcerations), he's finally kicked his addiction ... and it's his kids he thanks.

"Everyone was taking advantage of me with my finances, trying to put me in the direction to fail. I have 10 kids. I have to drive them in the right direction, so I let the cocaine go," DMX said.

In addition to his kids, he says it was God who helped him through his hardships.

"I am on a spiritual road to do right in my life," X continued. "I am leaving out all negativity and going to stay on the right road to positive."

X's pastor told TMZ that the rapper has made "a dramatic change" ... and echoed DMX's claims about giving up drugs.

"You see that the drugs and alcohol aren't in his life."

X was so good back when he was at the top of the rap game. A shame to see him go from the top to the bottom, hopefully he truly is getting better.

His first few albums are no doubt classics. From '98 to I say '01 he was the top dog in the game. Ruff Ryders need a reunion! X, Lox, Eve, Drag-On...

I've heard this for the past 5 years, I'm hopeful he can kick the habit but am still very skeptical

I pray he does make it but so many years of doing drugs makes it hard for me to believe he can stay clean for a long time... But i hope DMX can do it and maybe give us some old skool tracks again...
