Dr. Dre’s company Beats Electronics is launching a new music streaming service tentatively named “Daisy,” the company announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Musician Trent Reznor has been named Chief Creative Officer, while executive Ian Rogers is the CEO of the new company. According to Jimmy Iovine, who is a coowner in Beats with Dr. Dre, said that the new service will focus on curating streaming music for fans, as opposed to the current ala cart/subscription models. Beats is looking to expand their offerings beyond hardware, since the acquisition of streaming service MOG, which is the technology that will power Daisy.
A star of VH1′s hit show “Love & Hip Hop” will go on trail over charges that he performed various sexual acts with a 15-year-old girl at his home in Bergen County. Prosecutors claim that Mandeecees Harris, who is Yandy Smith’s boyfriend, allegedly received oral sex and fondled her between September 2009 and April 2009, resulting in charges that include aggravated sexual assault, criminal sexual acts and child endangerment. Jury selection started in state Superior Court in Hackensack on Wednesday (January 9). If convicted, Harris faces up to 25 years in prison.
