  • LL Cool J Opens Up About Abusive Childhood With Oprah

LL Cool J is the latest celebrity to sit with Oprah Winfrey for a feature on her "Oprah's Next Chapter" show, during which he opens up about the good and bad of his life.

The muscular rap legend doesn't seem like the type of man any one would try to put their hands on, but when he was a child, he was the victim of abuse. During the interview, LL explained how his mother's friend used to beat him as a youth, kicking him out into the snow without clothes and hitting him with household objects.

"A friend of my mother's, it wasn't sexual it was just beating, take all your clothes off. Kicked out in the snow, 'Stay outside,'" he recalled. "Just beaten with vacuum cleaner pipes. Just stripped naked, put your hands on the bunkbed. When you fall down, stand back up."

LL also tells Oprah about his career, his experience in marriage, and the night he woke up to an intruder in his home. His wife and four children also join the conversation.

The full interview airs Sunday, January 27, at 9 p.m. on OWN.

He is currently prepping the release of his 13th album, Authentic Hip-Hop, which he announced last November would come in February. It is currently unclear if that release date still stands.
