He's sarcastic, and sometimes a little insensitive to certain things. But, Eminem does have a heart, and shows it on rare occasions. Like Friday (May 15), when he plans to fly several laid-off Detroit autoworkers to L.A. for a taping of Jimmy Kimmel's show.
According to the Associated Press, the rapper will fly to Los Angeles later this week for a taping of his appearance on Kimmel's show, and will bring 200 of those unemployed autoworkers with him.
Em said he and Kimmel want to remind everyone that real people are being affected by what's going on in Detroit.
Local paper, the Detroit Free Press, says that Eminem came up with the idea, brought it up to producers with Kimmel's show, who in turn worked with the United Auto Workers to bring it to fruition.
The plan has been in motion for several weeks said, UAW spokeswoman Christine Moroski.
"ABC is paying for everything," Moroski told the paper. "We're helping with the logistics of it."
Guests will fly to L.A. on a chartered plane, and will also receive tickets to Eminem's top-secret concert in Detroit next week.
Moroski went on to say that Eminem is doing this to shed light on the problems facing workers in Detroit.
"He wants to put a human face to when you talk about the auto crisis and the economic crisis, and he thought this would be a good way to do it."
