Rap veteran Crooked I is preparing to release his latest solo project next month, and a few nights ago he premiered the first song off his upcoming EP at Seattle’s Nectar Lounge.
The Sermon’s Domain captured footage of the Slaughterhouse member performing the EP’s title track, “Apex Predator,” after Crooked I explained to the audience in attendance the meaning behind the name.
“A predator got to hunt, kill, then eat,” Crooked says in the video. “We hunting for opportunities, we killing the competition and my whole family eating.” The Long Beach emcee then debuted the new track live on stage.
Apex Predator will be Crooked I’s first individual project since 2012′s Psalm 82: V6 mixtape, and his first EP since In None We Trust was released in 2011. In 2012, he also appeared on Slaughterhouse’s On the House mixtape and Welcome to: Our House studio album along with fellow members Joe Budden, Joel Ortiz, and Royce da 5’9”.
