It has been a long tradition in Hip-Hop for fans to argue over which rapper had the best verse on collaborations and posse cuts.
Barber shows and internet forums have been the sites of heartfelt, heated discussions like: Which Juice Crew All-Star (Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap, Craig G, or Masta Ace) came on top on “The Symphony?” Who was your favorite rapper from the “4,3,2,1,” remix- LL Cool J, Canibus, DMX, Method Man, or Redman? And of course the infamous Eminem vs Jay-Z “Renegade” debate.
Well, the lead artist of a recent multi-rapper track has revealed who he felt was the hands down victor, and no, he didn’t name himself.
A$AP Rocky recently proclaimed in an interview on Vevo that he believes Mississippi born emcee Big K.R.I.T. was the standout performer on the song “1 Train” off his debut album LONG.LIVE.A$AP.
“Big K.R.I.T. has the best verse, and Ima stick to that. He went in,” says Rocky. “He had like 30-something bars, but he did have the best verse in my opinion.”
“1 Train” featured seven of the hottest rising rappers in the game right now. A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, and Big K.R.I.T all laid down verses over the Hit-Boy produced track.
Almost instantly after the song hit the internet Hip-Hop heads started dissecting the lyrics, flow, and delivery of each emcee to determine which one took the crown.
Even though “1 Train” was put together by A$AP Rocky, his choice probably won’t sway every rap fan’s opinion of their favorite verse from the song. So inevitably the debate continues.
