  • The Other Boot Camp Clicc: Mystikal Headlining Big Boy Records Reunion in New Orleans

In the 1990′s Master P’s New Orleans-based No Limit Records was one of the biggest record labels in rap. Boasting a host of talent, including the charismatic Mystikal, Master P and No Limit went on to sell hundreds of millions of albums worldwide.

But, unbeknownst to many Hip-Hop fans outside of Louisiana, Mystikal was once signed to the local favorite, Big Boy Records, who often went by the moniker “The Boot Camp Clicc.”

Although the label dissolved in the mid-90′s amidst the $30 million dollar Cash Money Deal and Snoop signing to No Limit, this Sunday (May 10), Big Boy Records will reunite with Mystikal as the headliner.

The Boot Camp Clicc reunion will also include performances by Partners-N-Crime, the Ghetto Twiinz, Black Menace, Precise, Insane and Lil Lipps. Also scheduled to appear will be DJ Spin and DJ Jubilee with tributes to deceased artists Tim Smooth, Sporty T, G-Slimm and Rated X.

Established by Charles “Big Boy” Temple and producer Leroy “Precise” Edwards, Big Boy Records would go on to release some of New Orleans’ most favored records including, Partners-N-Crime’s “Pump Tha Party”, Fiend’s “I Won’t Be Denied”, and Mystikal’s “Y’All Ain’t Ready Yet.”

The Boot Camp Clicc Reunion start as 8 p.m. at the Howlin’ Wolf (907 S. Peters St.). Tickets are $20 for general admission and $50 for V.I.P.

Also, from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, promoters will host a dinner and performers’ meet-and-greet for ticket holders at LeRoux Supper Club (1700 Louisiana Ave).
