It was announced earlier this week that Ol' Dirty B*stard's hologram would be a part of the 2013 Rock The Bells festival. The only problem is nobody bothered to get in touch with his widow.
Icelene Jones is not happy with the decision to include her late husband in the concert. ODB's estate has filed a cease and desist order to prevent it from happening according to Rolling Out.
Icelene has issued the following statement:
“I am disappointed that Rock the Bells would not contact me directly about the use of my husband’s image. I am looking forward to talking to Wu-Tang about this matter and coming up with a positive solution in order to bring my husband’s image to the stage once again.”
Chang Weisberg, head of Rock the Bells organizers Guerilla Union, said he has been in touch with the appropriate parties, including ODB's mom, Cherry Jones
“I keep in touch with Cherry all the time,” Chang told HipHopDX after the press conference. “She’s got a legacy that she’s trying to keep together for her grand kids and her relatives. So, whatever it is that we can do to help Cherry in her mission, we’re gonna do."
ODB, real name Russell Jones, passed away in 2004 at the age of 35.
“My son, Young Dirty B*stard, [also known as] Boy Jones has always performed at Rock the Bells and looks forward to working with his Uncle RZA every year.”
