When Lil Jon announced the launch of his own wine company early last year, people were surprised, but it seems to be winning people over.
The rapper/producer recently took home an award from the Los Angeles International Wine and Spirits Competition. His 2006 Central Coast Chardonnay took a Silver Medal, and Jon was more than excited.
In all CAPS, an excited Jon tweeted about the win: "FOR ALL YALL SUKKAS THAT WERE HATING ON MY WINE CHECK THIS OUT!! WE WINNING AWARDS TWITT!!! GET U SOME."
The Chardonnay that won contains "fruit from one of California's finest Chardonnay growing regions," according to the winery's website. "These grapes are picked at optimum ripeness for inviting flavors while retaining the cool climate acidity. This wine can accompany cheeses, chicken, fish, and many other types of cuisine."
The rapper's venture is called the Little Jonathan Winery, which Jon says is "a little bit more upscale than regular 'Lil Jon.' ... This is not no ghetto Boone's Farm; this is some real wine."
