  • Young Jeezy arrested on gun charge after fatal concert shooting

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Platinum-selling rapper Young Jeezy was arrested on suspicion of possessing illegal firearms during an investigation into a fatal shooting at a rap concert in Silicon Valley, authorities said.

Mountain View police spokesman Sgt. Saul Jaeger said Monday that the 36-year-old Atlanta rapper, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, was one of six people taken into custody Sunday by detectives executing a search warrant at the Verizon Amphitheatre in Irvine.

The arrests come after 38-year-old Eric Johnson was shot and killed while backstage at the "Under the Influence of Music" concert Jenkins co-headlined with fellow rapper Wiz Khalifa at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View on Friday.

CBS San Francisco reports the other five people arrested on suspicion of illegal firearms possession included 39-year-old Kena Marhsall, 38-year-old Peter Maynard, 31-year-old David Kuniansky-Altman, 48-year-old William Gilmore and 53-year-old Alexa Beason.

Jaeger said none of the arrested has been identified as suspects in the fatal shooting.

Jenkins was being held on $1 million bail and could make his first appearance in court as soon as Tuesday, Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock said.
