Singer/rapper Cee Lo Green was caught in a firestorm after the former The Voice star made some controversial comments about rape.
Tweets from Cee Lo’s certified Twitter account included, “People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!” and “If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent.”
Those words led to widespread criticism and Cee Lo eventually deleted his social media accounts after posting an apology. The Atlanta native returned to Twitter to again apologize for his previous posts.
The new mea culpa seems to claim that the previous tweets were not sent out by the actual artist. The tweet reads, “I truly and deeply apologize for the comments attributed to me on Twitter. Those comments were idiotic, untrue and not what I believe.”
