Police have identified a suspect but don't yet have enough evidence for an arrest.
Police have identified a suspect in a shooting that injured Suge Knight in a West Hollywood, California nightclub over the summer according to TMZ.
After reviewing security camera footage and speaking with witnesses, police say “they’re confident they've identified the suspect responsible” but “still don’t have enough evidence to arrest the suspect” the TMZ article reports.
Knight was shot six times at 1Oak early in the morning on August 24. The Death Row co-founder was one of three victims of the shooting and was brought to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery. The shooting took place at a Chris Brown-hosted pre-VMA event which also counted Tyson Beckford, Apple de Ap of the Black Eyed Peas, and more as attendees.
TMZ later reported that Knight and other witnesses refused to cooperate with a police investigation into the shooting. In a separate interview with the network, Knight seemed unconcerned with the identity of the shooter. "Even if I did, I don’t think that’s really important — who pulled the trigger and who I seen pull the trigger," he said. "I'm doing extremely well. I’m happy to be doing well. Whatever happens, happens."
Shortly after the shooting, Katt Williams spoke about the incident and claimed he was with Suge Knight that night.
“Now if you’re an idiot you can believe this was about Suge Knight,” Williams said. “But Suge Knight has been accessible every day of his life for 20 years. We know who it was aimed at. We know whose life he saved. And we know why they won’t talk about it.”
