"I think they raised the bar," KXNG CROOKED says. "That was a nice purse he got. They gave him a nice check."
With an initially bungled battle between Cassidy and Dizaster completed in a last-minute rematch earlier this month, KXNG CROOKED, formerly known as Crooked I, spoke with HipHopDX about his take on the matchup and how the increasing money involved will continue to attract big name contenders.
Explaining why he hasn't immediately considered the prospect of battling himself, CROOKED said he's busy grinding out corporate deals.
“That’s the thing with me with this battle shit," he said in a clip that debuted as a part of today's DX Daily. "I’m enjoying battling corporations for market positions and trying to corporate market with certain things and trying to bring deals to the table that they said I could never get. Creating TV shows. I’m out here fighting that battle. I don’t be looking at rappers as somebody that I just wanna tear into.
“With the Cassidy thing, I think they raised the bar," he added. "That was a nice purse he got. They gave him a nice check. I think that raises the bar to where now it starts to enter into everybody’s minds like, ‘Hold up, if they’re giving him [$250,000], the next one might be a half.’ Somebody give me a half, I probably would jump in there. Shit, that ain’t a bad payday for one night. Other than that, I don’t even be on that level."
Playing with the idea of a full-out label vs. label battle, CROOKED went on to throw out a couple grand possibilities.
“If we was to battle a label, first people would wanna see is either TDE or G.O.O.D. Music, something like that," he said. "Shady [vs.] TDE, Shady [vs.] G.O.O.D. Music. I think those come to mind first. Am I wrong? Who do you think?”
