UPDATE: Suge Knight has returned to jail.
Following Suge Knight’s court appearance Tuesday (February 3), the former Death Row Records owner was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital after suffering chest pains while in the lockup area near the courtroom.
However, according to new reports by TMZ, Knight experienced more than mere chest pains, instead having suffered from an intense physical reaction to a potentially fatal blood clot.
“Suge began experiencing chest pains after he was taken from the holding area at the courthouse to the hospital,” the TMZ article states. “Suge family sources tell us, doctors determined he's suffering from yet another blood clot -- like the one that almost killed him in a Vegas jail 3 months ago.
“We're told the clots began forming after Suge was shot 6 times last summer at 1OAK during VMA weekend,” the report adds.
The publication continues, stating that Suge Knight has now been moved to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center where doctors have placed him on blood thinners.
TMZ also reports that Suge Knight has been handcuffed to his hospital bed and is under 24-hour watch.
Suge Knight has been charged with murder and attempted murder after being arrested Friday (January 30) on murder charges regarding his alleged involvement in a deadly hit-and-run outside of Tam's Burgers near the 1200 block of West Rosecrans Avenue in Los Angeles.
According to The Fader, Suge Knight’s attorney David Kenner stated his client’s innocence in a recent statement to the AP. "[Knight] feels bad that somebody that he knew is deceased...it's not his fault," Kenner said.
David Kenner, who has represented Suge Knight on a variety of civil and criminal matters throughout his career, also helped Snoop Dogg get acquitted of his murder charges in 1996. Kenner became the principal lawyer for Death Row Records in late 1994, according to the Los Angeles Times.
