Luniz – High Timez

Luniz is about to drop their first album in 13 years.

The Oakland duo of Yukmouth and Numskull, best known for their 1995 hit ‘I Got 5 On It’, announced that they will release the project, tentatively titled High Timez, on April 20th as an abbreviated mixtape as well as a full retail album.

“It’s a whole different album [compared to old releases],” said Numskull during a recent appearance on the Murder Master Music Show. “I mean, you gonna hear the funny Luniz, you gonna hear the street Luniz, you gonna hear the getting high Luniz.

“Everybody out here getting high. Why wouldn’t we give ‘em songs that’s talking about getting high?”

Numskull said he was motivated to release new music after listening to the current landscape of the industry upon returning home from prison.

“I came home from prison and I’m listening to this weak-ass shit, I’m like, ‘Oh no, we gotta get on real quick.'”

Yukmouth shared a similar sentiment. “Right now niggas ain’t got no identity… It’s just a bunch of club shit and bullshit so it’s definitely the time for us to bring the real back. It’s right on time, I think.”
