Sway coordinated Tech N9ne and Eminem's first collaboration in 1999.
Tech N9ne debuted his new track “Speedom (WWC2)" featuring Eminem and Krizz Kaliko on the Sway in the Morning broadcast today (April 20).
Since Sway didn't believe Tech had landed his dream-collaboration, Tech decided to have Eminem call in to the show during his visit to confirm.
"Unfortunately, I couldn't be there," Eminem says over the phone. "I've been a fan of Tech for a long time. Timing hasn't been right for a long time. I had been mentioning to Paul if I ever get a chance... I want to do a song with Tech."
"Timing wasn't good," Tech interjects.
"Everything has its time, this tribute to Richie Haven is perfect," he says. "I thank you so much, you came at the right time. With the passing of my mom I just needed that extra umph, that verse lifted me up. I've been going through it like a mother."
Sway allowed Tech N9ne to introduce the track live on-air.
"This song has been in the making for a decade plus," Tech says. "I wanted to rap with someone I deem the best i've ever heard... unmatched. I always wanted to rap with someone like that because I felt like I am in that lane. This is the person that I say is at the hilt of that shit."
"Man, thank you," Eminem says.
Later in the interview, Eminem says he's been a Tech N9ne fan since 1999, when the two collaborated on "The Anthem," a track that was featured on Sway & King Tech's second album, This or That.
"I've been a fan of Tech since we did 'The Anthem,'" Eminem says. "The past 10 years it seems like he's getting better and better."
"I just wanted to send him something that he thought was dope," Tech says. "The timing was right, and when I heard the beat I said this is Eminem. At first, I was going to send it to Nicki as well, but I was scared.
"I'm just glad Seven did a beat that was so powerful that made Marshall want to do these things."
Tech N9ne's forthcoming album Special Effects is slated to be released on May 5.
