Imprisoned rap mogul Suge Knight has paid off $29,000 he owed to U.S. tax authorities.
Knight, 50, has paid off two tax liens issued by California officials relating to unpaid taxes, according to documents seen by editors at TMZ.com.
One, for a sum of $18,340.37 relates to a tax bill from 2011, while the other refers to a debt of $11,764.92 from 2012.
The Death Row Records founder, real name Marion Hugh Knight, is currently behind bars awaiting trial on a murder charge after being arrested in January last year on suspicion of the murder of record executive Terry Carter in an alleged hit-and-run incident.
Activist and actor Cle ‘Bone’ Sloan was also injured in the alleged hit-and-run, which occurred after an argument on the set of N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton.
Knight also faces a wrongful death lawsuit brought by Carter’s widow in June last year.
Former N.W.A bandmembers Ice Cube and Dr. Dre were also initially named in the suit, but last week a judge cleared them of any responsibility for Carter’s death.
Knight is scheduled to go on trial in February next year.
