  • More Lil Wayne "Rebirth" Delays Emerge, "Cash Money Just Changes Their Dates Whenever

Lil Wayne's Rebirth album is reportedly being pushed back to the end of 2009 but no concrete date has been set even after reps for Cash Money and Universal Motown Records have weighed in.

According to a source at Weezy's label, the project will likely hit stores around the winter hoilday.
"Cash Money just changes their dates whenever they want to," says a Universal Motown rep. "It's definitely not August. I have no idea why it was moved, and I'm not anticipating a September release. Right now I'm looking at closer to October." A representative for Cash Money tells the Music Mix even that estimated date is likely too early: "It's not going to be 'til the end of the year. We're talking about holiday [season]." You read that right: Rebirth might not be on shelves until December 2009. (Entertainment Weekly)

Cash Money reps have also said the delay is partially due to Weezy's scheduling.
"He's just been really hectic, not having time to promote it the way we'd like to promote it," says the Cash Money rep. And some argue that Weezy's crammed schedule is helping, not hurting him with fans. "Wayne is a rock star, so there's always a large interest," says Terri Thomas, programming director at Houston's KBXX-FM "The Box" radio. (New Lil Wayne)

Interscope Records A&R executive Neil Jacobson claims a delayed release date may not hurt in the long-run if the project is crafted correctly.
"Moving a release date, nobody cares about that later," says Jacobson. "I just think they want to wait for that perfect timing. And frankly, they need to. It is so crucial that Wayne's next single is a monster. The sophomore jinx after coming from a gigantic album is one of the most difficult things to overcome. And if you do it, it can be that much bigger." (Lil Wayne Site)

Rebirth contributor Shanell announced the project's pushback from August in an interview earlier this month.
"Right now it's September," the Young Money singer, who co-wrote Wayne's "Prom Queen," said in an interview. "But let me tell ya'll, great art takes time and you'll expect it and expect it and expect it again, but when it's perfect, you guys will receive it." (Rap Up)

As of today (July 27), Rebirth is projected to hit stores fall 2009.

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping it's dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared.

weezy is going the same route he took with the carter 3 soon we'll have 5 albums worth of scrapped material then we'll have the finshed product
that way he can build up hype like he did before and move another million the first week
