Aside from Twitter and MySpace pages marked with "RIP Baatin" comments, he was confirmed to have passed.

Titus (Baatin) Glover, the Detroit rapper who co-founded the much-acclaimed Slum Village, has died. Many details remain unknown at this point, said Hex, the group's road manager. Word of Baatin's passing circulated quickly this afternoon in music circles both locally and nationally, where Slum Village has long been an exalted name in underground hip-hop. (Free Press)

Black History 1010 Mobile Museum of Detroit founder Khalid el-Hakim expressed his reaction towards the rapper's unexpected death.

"He was a very spiritual brother," he said. "He brought a spirituality to Detroit hip-hop that you didn't see with other artists. That's what he was known for." (Statement)

The rapper's MySpace page has been flooded with homage messages and fans paying their respect to his memory.

"You were a good friend and you will be missed," MySpace user Peoplemovers commented Saturday (August 1). "thanks for all the late night phone calls and studio sessions~! You will continue to influence the future of hip hop FOREVER~!" (MySpace)

He reportedly had medical issues in the past, however, was set to re-join his group for a forthcoming album.

The Slum Village trio became a duo (T3 and Elzhi). Baatin became sick touring in France shortly before the release of their 2004 album, Detroit Deli (A Taste of Detroit) and left for undisclosed medical reasons. Recently, it was announced that Baatin had rejoined Slum Village. A new album, Villa Manifesto, was scheduled to be released September 22. (Huliq News)

No further information on the rapper's death has been reported.

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping it's dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared.
