  • Kanye West Fires Back At Michael Jackson Rumors

Kanye West has responded to recent rumors of him proclaiming to be the new "King of Pop" after the June passing of Michael Jackson.

Writing via his daily blog, Ye denied ever making such statements and explained why he would no longer defend himself against false accusations made within the media.

"I WAS JUST LISTENING TO WENDY WILLIAMS AND HEARD SOME QUOTE ABOUT ME SAYING I'M THE NEW KING OF POP," Yeezy wrote Friday (July 31). "NOT ONLY DID I NOT SAY THAT, I HAVEN'T SAID ANYTHING. IT MAKES ME FEEL BAD THAT OBVIOUSLY I MADE PEOPLE FEEL THAT I WOULD BE CORNY ENOUGH TO SAY SOMETHING SO WHACK AFTER THE PASSING OF AN IDOL, A LEGEND AND MORE THAN THAT A HUMAN BEING WITH FEELINGS AND FAMILY. IT SCARES ME TO THINK WHAT PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE, WITHOUT EVEN A SOURCE. ANY RANDOM PERSON CAN TYPE SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET AND THEN THE WORLD BELIEVES IT. I DON'T TALK TO PRESS OR DO TV OR DO PROMOTIONS OF ANY SORT. I'VE STOPPED CHASING AND BUYING INTO FAME. FAME IS LIKE CIGARETTES WITH NO SURGEON GENERAL WARNING. IT DESTROYS MOST PEOPLE AS IT DID TO THE TRUE AND ONLY KING OF POP. WE EXPLOIT OURSELVES AND EAT OUR OWN EGOS 'TILL THERE IS NOTHING LEFT. I HAVE A FEELING THAT THIS WON'T BE THE LAST FALSE STATEMENT WITH MY NAME ON IT, BUT THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME I DEFEND MYSELF. I'M DONE." (Kanye West's Blog)

Reports last week quoted the rapper saying it was his time to replace the late iconic singer.

Beat it, Kanye! In the wake of Michael Jackson's death, Mr. West has crowned himself the new King of Pop. The notorious egomaniac boasted, "There's nobody who can match me in sales and in respect, so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael's crown and become the new king." The rapper added, "First there was Elvis, then there was Michael. Now in the 21st century it's Kanye's time to rule." (New York Daily News)

In past interviews, Ye has made references to Jackson's greatness and paid homage to the singer.

"I think there hasn't been a Michael Jackson since Michael Jackson," Kanye said in a November 2008 interview. "But when stuff like [my Kanye glasses] happens, it's little pieces of what he had, his level of influence. And it's like that's either the one-off or it's the beginning of a lot of it." (The Fader)

Aside from the controversy, West associate Amber Rose recently revealed her appearance in one of Ye's upcoming new music videos.

"I have Kanye's 'Robocop' video," Rose said about her upcoming projects. "I'm playing a robot through the whole video. Ninety-five percent of the video is just me...I definitely welcome it...I appreciate all my fans. I definitely never expected it. I don't wanna say I never wanted it. But -- I just know a lot of girls, they go to modeling agencies every single day. That's their life. A lot of stuff --- just landed in my lap. I thank God for that; it's really a blessing. I thank God for that -- and Kanye, of course. Kanye definitely gave me the fast track to the top." (MTV)

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping it's dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared.
