  • Greg Mack starts the mixmaster show on 1580 KDAY with Dr. Dre and D.J. Yella

Legendary Los Angeles radio DJ Greg Macks talks about how he created the Mixmasters show on 1580 KDAY. When he was playing independent artist like Toddy Tee (Batter Ram), Greg Mack discusses how the record companies were disappointed that he did not play artists that the companies spent lots of money on.

Uncle Jam's Army, was huge in Los Angeles during the 1980s and Greg Mack talks about meeting Roger Clayton, then later meeting Alonzo Williams of the World Class Wrecking Cru where DJ Yella and Dr. Dre were the main DJs.

That inspired the birth of the Mixmasters show on KDAY in 1984 with Dr. Dre and DJ Yella.
