  • Eminem ‘The Slim Shady LP’ 20th Anniversary

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of ‘The Slim Shady LP’, Eminem has released a merch capsule featuring collectibles and an expanded reissue on 19 November.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of his career-making album The Slim Shady LP, Eminem has released a SSLP20 merch capsule featuring exclusive collectibles and an expanded reissue available now.

Last week, the Detroit MC teased the collection by posting a video clip that pictured Eminem and his longtime business partner Paul Rosenberg as LEGO minifigures. The two figures re-enact the famous skit ‘Guilty Conscience’ from the album, that shows EM transform into a Leatherface-type character, complete with chainsaw.

“There’s only so much I can explain,” this tweet reads. “#SSLP20 Drop 2 Coming 11/19 – Paul not included.”

Along with the LEGO minifigures, the collection also includes The Slim Shady LP Film Strip Shadow Box, that features originally unused and unreleased film strips from Danny Hastings’ original shoot for The Slim Shady LP album cover and includes a Certificate Of Authenticity autographed by Eminem.

The capsule also sees The Slim Shady LP reissued and expanded on various formats including a limited-edition chrome cassette, a 7-inch die cut vinyl in the shape of a middle finger featuring ‘Just Don’t Give A F__k’ as Side A and ‘Still Don’t Give A F__k’ as Side B. But the real highlight is the expanded The Slim Shady LP vinyl edition, boasting a lenticular front cover that contains three 180-gram colour LPs and 24 pages of never before seen photos and illustrations.

Originally released on 23 February 1999, The Slim Shady LP turned Eminem from an underground rapper into a high-profile celebrity. The album featured production from Dr Dre, the Bass Brothers, and Eminem himself. The Slim Shady LP was also his first album with a major label – Aftermath Productions/Interscope – after his first album Infinite was released on an independent label in 1996.

Written from the perspective of Eminem’s famous alter ego, Slim Shady, the album spawned some of the rapper’s biggest singles including ‘My Name Is’, ‘Just Don’t Give A F__k’ and the aforementioned ‘Guilty Conscience’.

There are limited qualities of each item, with pre-sale going live through Eminem’s email list, followed by the general sale.

I like the Idea, of a Tape, Vinyl and CD, so I grap one.

That's a nice collectors item of course!!

I enjoyed SSLP & MMLP, but after that he lost me lol

I recall getting his stuff recorded on a tape around 2000, bumped the shit out of this tape lol

Can’t find a price for the capsule, but must be pricey...

I'm not a fan of SSLP and MMLP1 ...too many skits / interludes.

I would rank the albums like that
        1. MMLP2
        2. Recovery
        3. The Eminem Show
        4. MMLP1
        5. SSLP
        6. Encore
        7. Relapse
        My 2PAC Collection | Status: 09/27/2018
        Vinyls: 60
        Cassettes: 110
        CDs: 216

I agree with the skits, annoying, but MMLP on 4.!?! Damn!!

Like I said, I stopped listening to him after MMLP, it's a perfect album imo but maybe I've too much memories & nostalgic feelings for that album lol

          1. MMLP
          2. SSLP

Slim Shady LP was the only album that had relevance imo. On Marshal Matters LP the subject was his sudden fame and everything that came with it (similar to AEOM). A lot of artists pick that theme for their follow-up albums and usually it's superficial and boring content. I like a lot of tracks on MMLP and many newer tracks by Eminem though. The Ringer is one of his dopest recent tracks.
