Slaughterhouse recently spoke on the likelihood of another rapper joining their four-member team and, if given the opportunity to add a Southern member, why T.I. and Lil Wayne would be at the top of their list.
After careful consideration among the group members, which consists of Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, Crooked I and Royce Da 5'9, they expressed their thoughts on the Southern touch.
"This sh*t is like a strategically built together puzzle," Royce said. "The puzzle could only fit four pieces...There's a lot of n*ggaz from the South that can spit. If I want just straight up lyricism, then it would have to be a T.I. or a Lil Wayne. If I wanted to go based off of Ol' G status, and who I personally like, I would say Bun B. I mean he supports n*ggas. He's been supporting n*ggas since day one. He's a real n*gga, not to say Lil Wayne or T.I. aren't, but like I said, to me, there's just more that goes into just straight up spitting. Yeah Lil Wayne and them n*ggas could spit." (Hip Hop Game)
Cam'ron, who has collaborated with Weezy on tracks like "Suck It Or Not," previously co-signed the rapper's lyrical talent.
"Wayne's my man," Cam said in an interview. "I'm proud of him, he worked hard. You know with a lot of people, Wayne's been doing this for years. Wayne had a record deal before I had a record deal, you know what I'm saying? Even though Cash Money been out for 12, 13 years so you know, for him to come up for where he came up, it was all them, B.G., Juvie, Turk, everybody. To see him excel from all that and become one of the hottest people in the game, 10, 12 years later, I'm really proud of him. That's my lil' man." (Street Heat)
Eminem also spoke about Tip and Weezy's positive impact on the rap game in an interview earlier this year.
"I stayed up on the music," Em said in an interview. "And without naming any name, it just felt like hip-hop was going downhill...But with this new T.I. album, with this new Lil Wayne album of recent, it seems like things are looking a lot better now. You can appreciate Lil Wayne using different words to rhyme and actually rhyming words that you know. Or T.I., where you hear sh*t and you're like Whoa, ah, I wish I would have thought of that! You know what I mean? Or you hear all the compound-syllable rhyming and all that. It just seems like now the craft is getting cared about more." (XXL Magazine)
