DJ AM was found dead in New York City Friday afternoon (August 28 ), said a report from NBC (New York).
While details are still sketchy, police said that the body of the popular celebrity DJ was found on the seventh floor of an apartment building in Soho.
He was just 36 years old.
TMZ reports:
Law enforcement sources tell us he was found in his apartment at around 5:20 PM. We're told drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.
We're told DJ AM had not been seen or heard from for a few days -- one of his friends went to check on him, but got no response after knocking on his apartment door.
We're told the friend called the police, who broke down the door and then found DJ AM's body.
AM's last Twitter update was on Tuesday afternoon (August 25), where he tweeted from New York: "New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems."
The news comes less than a year after he and friend Travis Barker escaped death in a plane crash in South Carolina, caused when the private plane's takeoff was aborted right before lift off.
Four people died in the crash, including two pilots, and Travis' friends, Chris Baker and Charles Still.
