..For Hearing In Gun Case - Rumored To Accept 8 Month Jail Bid

    According To The NY Post
Lil Wayne is appearing in a Manhattan courtroom Thursday a.m. Oct. 22nd, but DNA science is taking center stage.
A hearing on a DNA profiling technique used in the rapper’s 2007 gun-possession case started Wednesday. It concerns a process used for identifying people from tiny amounts of DNA including some that prosecutors say ties the Grammy Award-winner to a gun found on his tour bus after a concert.
Wayne has pleaded not guilty andhe faces at least 3½ years in prison if convicted.

There is some speculation that the rapper is expected to accept an 8-month bid in jail over his alleged involvement with a loaded .40-caliber pistol gun found on his tour bus in 2007 while in New York.

In the court appearance, Lil Wayne must surrender a DNA sample to establish whether the gun that was retrieved by police from his tour bus was his.

The hearing tomorrow is supposed to establish whether what’s known as low copy number DNA profiling has general scientific acceptance. In other words the DNA results seem so unclear that the DA must prove that the results are significant enough to convict.

Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Carter, won last year’s best rap solo performance Grammy for “A Milli.” His albums include “Tha Carter,” “Tha Carter II” and “Tha Carter III.”

this reminds me of "OG Loc" from san andreas, i bet lil wayne is eager to go to jail and get some street cred...

also nice to know if i pistol whip someone and wear gloves, the gun is theirs coz its has their DNA on

at least i dont have to plead, "no officer i did not pistol whip him, he was the one being offensive and headbutting the gun"

          UPDATE:

Rapper Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to attempted weapons possession charges!

As reported by AllHipHop.com yesterday (October 21), the rapper is expected to receive a maximum sentence of one year in jail, although he is expected to serve around eight months in prison for the offense.

The rapper had previously pleaded not guilty to the charges, but changed the plea to avoid a trial that was due to start January 20 and could have resulted in at least 3 ½ years in prison.

The guilty plea stems from an incident in New York in 2007, after police found a .40 caliber handgun during a search of his tour bus.

Originally, lawyers for Wayne planned to contest the charges.

Yesterday (October 21), the plea was entered after Wayne’s DNA evidence was allegedly found on the weapon and deemed admissible by a judge.

The DNA evidence found was reportedly small, and Wayne’s lawyers initially sparred with the prosecution over whether the DNA profiling technique used was scientifically acceptable.

Before the trial, Lil Wayne’s manager had publicly taken responsibility for the gun on the rapper’s VH1 special.

Lil Wayne, 27, also faces a trial in Arizona for felony drug possession and weapons charges, after a 2008 arrest during a routine stop at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint.

At press time, Lil Wayne could not be reached for comment.

His much-delayed rock debut, The Rebirth, is scheduled to hit stores on December 15.
