  • Antawn Jamison Agrees To One-Year Deal With Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers have gotten a nice piece in Steve Nash to help the franchise chase another championship, and it just got one ... with the addition of Antawn Jamison.

According to ESPN.com, the 36-year-old power forward has agreed to sign a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum with the Lakers.

Jamison is expected to bolster the team's bench, bringing both scoring and veteran leadership to the second unit, while he pursues his first championship ring in a career largely spent as the best player on bad teams.

He reportedly had offers from his hometown Charlotte Bobcats, the Brooklyn Nets and the Golden State Warriors, his employer for his first five NBA seasons. However, for a player who has never advanced past the second round of the playoffs in 14 NBA seasons, the Lakers' chance to contend was too enticing.

With the Lakers, Jamison will likely be a reserve. He's been a reserve just once in his career: During his only season with the Dallas Mavericks in 2003-04. But, he'll be a huge upgrade for the bench, and will help take the load off the starting line-up.

He averaged 17.2 points last season for a terrible Cavs team, and shot a career-low 40.3%. For his career, Jamison is averaging an impressive 19.5 points per game, and has never fallen below 15.8 since his rookie season.

Great pickup for the Lakers. Our bench was deadlast in scoring last season. Jamison will definotely help in that aspect.

Special Thanks to jamaal for making this sig.
