  • NBA Hall Of Famer, Arnie Risen, Dies At 87

1950's Hall of Fame center, Arnie Risen, passed away on Saturday (August 4) in Beachwood, Ohio. He was 87 years old.

According to NBA.com, the former NBA pro had been suffering from lung cancer, which was in remission, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease when he died.

For the past 27 years, Risen was retired and lived with his son's family.

"We were a multi-generation family, which is kind of unusual," Arnie's son Dennis told USA Today. "He had the opportunity to help raise his granddaughters, and he got a lot of enjoyment out of that. He enjoyed golf, and spectator sports and being with his family."

Risen played in back-to-back Final Fours in college at Ohio State, before being drafted into the NBA, where he was a four-time All-Star.

During his career, which included stints with the Rochester Royals and Boston Celtics, he scored 7,633 career points and was eventually inducted into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in 1998.
