  • Monta Ellis To Become Free Agent This NBA Off-Season

Monta Ellis will become a free agent this off-season. League sources tell ESPN.com that he's informed the Milwaukee Bucks that he will opt out of the last year of his deal.

The 27-year-old had one year, $11 million left on his contract that he originally signed with the Golden State Warriors -- six years, $66 million. By opting out, Ellis will become one of the most coveted free agents on the market this summer, alongside Dwight Howard and Chris Paul.

ESPN.com reports that the Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers are among the teams interested in Ellis. Although the Lakers could only get him in an unlikely sign-and-trade deal.

Ellis is said to be close to Lakers free agent Dwight Howard, and both have long desired to play together. And, if Howard cannot achieve his top goal of playing with Chris Paul, he would strongly consider teaming up with Ellis.

Ellis is a scoring machine, who entered the league in 2005 when drafted by the Warriors with the 40th overall pick. Last season, he led the Bucks with 19.2 points per game.
