  • Allen Iverson Set To 'Officially' Retire

Though he hasn't played any significant minutes in the NBA since 2010 with the 76ers, Allen Iverson is set to "officially" retire. According to Slam Online, the former NBA superstar will announce his retirement very soon... though it's strictly a formality at this point.

In the past few years, Iverson had consistently said he'd like to play again... but not one team came a knocking. So, without any interest, he's calling it quits... officially.

Back in March, the 38-year-old spoke publicly (at a Sixers game) about continuing his career, saying that if he never returned, he definitely enjoyed the ride. "My #1 goal is trying to accomplish to be the best dad that I can. And if basketball is in my near future, then God will make that happen," Iverson said. "But if not, I had a great ride and I've done a lot of special things that a lot of guys have not been able to accomplish and people thought I couldn't accomplish."

During his 13-year career, Iverson averaged 41.1 mpg, 26.7 ppg, 6.2 apg and 2.2 spg. His 71-game Playoff averages are 45.1 mpg, 29.7 ppg, 6.0 apg and 2.1 spg. He also won the 2001 regular season MVP award, four scoring titles and was named an All-Star 11 times.

Though he never won a title, Iverson will go down in history as one of the most prolific scoring threats in NBA history. Also standing at just 6-foot, his skill was amazing.
