Uh oh. The Chicago Bulls suffered a loss in Friday's night's (Nov. 22) game against the Portland Trail Blazers when Derrick Rose suffered injury to his other knee. The 25-year-old guard went down in the third quarter of the 98-95 loss, and did not return.
According to ESPN.com, Rose was taken into the locker room, unable to put any weight on the injured leg. After the game, he left on crutches and seemed to "be in considerable pain."
An MRI is due on Saturday (Nov. 23) in Los Angeles, where he flew there with the team.
The Bulls didn't speculate much on the injury as of press time. However, coach Tom Thibodeau said Rose has pain ... and will offer an update on his condition after the MRI.
"He has pain and he felt like he couldn't push off his right knee," Thibodeau said. "I'm concerned. Any time anyone goes down, you're concerned. But I don't want to speculate until we get more information for you guys. We'll have more [Saturday] for you guys."
Rose missed all of last season while recovering from reconstructive surgery to his left knee, after suffering a torn ACL in April 2012. Now, his right knee is hurt. Hopefully, it's not bad. Stay tuned...
Around the league, other teams took losses with injury as well.
Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol went down during Friday's 102-86 loss to the San Antonio Spurs with a sprained left knee. He's set to undergo an MRI as well.
In Los Angeles Friday, during the Golden State Warriors' 102-95 loss to the Lakers, forward Andre Iguodala strained his left hamstring in the third quarter. A.I. did not return to the gain, and is doubtful for Saturday night's game against the Trail Blazers. He will undergo an MRI on Saturday too.
