  • Houston Rockets Notch Historic Loss To OKC Thunder

The Houston Rockets fell apart Thursday evening (Jan. 16) during their game against the OKC Thunder, who took the "W" 104-92. While a loss is a loss, in this case, it was extreme.

In the first half, the Rockets blasted off, posting 73 points in the first 24 minutes -- a season-best half and the Thunder defense's season-worst. However, things took a turn for the worse in the second half. Houston put up just 19 points in the closing 24 minutes (a franchise low), allowing OKC to take the victory. Furthermore, tn the fourth quarter, the Thunder out-scored the Rockets 21-9, led by Kevin Durant's game-high 36 points.

The 54-point disparity is the largest in two different halves of the same game in NBA history. It also marks the first time an NBA club has reached 70 points in the first half before failing to net 20 points after halftime.
