  • Shane Mosley Says Fighting Manny Pacquiao Is Mayweather's 'Dirty Work'

Manny Pacquaio's next opponent, "Sugar" Shane Mosley, recently said that in fighting the Filipino boxing superstar, he's basically doing Floyd Mayweather's "dirty work", since the undefeated boxer won't face him.

Fans have been waiting for a showdown between Pacquiao and Mayweather for years now, but Floyd has been reluctant to agree to a fight that would be the highest earning in boxing history. So instead, Mosley has stepped up to the plate.

During his recent press tour with Pac-Man, Mosley said that he doesn't understand why Floyd won't fight.

"I don't know what to make of Floyd not fighting this fight. It's mind-boggling to me," Mosley, who lost a lopsided decision to the unbeaten Mayweather last year. "It's like I said on Twitter, it feels like I'm doing Floyd's dirty work."

According to ESPN, Mosley believes Mayweather hasn't fought Pacquiao because he is a southpaw, and left-handers have caused Mayweather trouble in the past.

While that may have been true, Mayweather has bigger problems right now. His legal issues with his ex-girlfiend has Mayweather facing a slew of charges that could put him away for some time, if he's found guilty and gets the maximum punishment. The boxing star is accused of felony grand larceny, coercion and robbery from an incident last September, and also faces misdemeanor domestic battery and harassment charges.

So, before a fight with Pacquaio could happen, the legal issues would have to be resolved, and even then, will Mayweather agree to a fight? Will he ever step into the ring again at all? Will Pac-Man be retired by then?

If you keep up with boxing, you know Manny has already said he plans to retire in three years to focus on politics. So, we may never see this fight, although we're staying optimistic. Whatever the future holds, the Filipino star says he's not worried about Mayweather.

"What I have done in boxing, I am satisfied, I'm happy, and I'm not really pushing that fight hard," Pacquiao said Monday to the Associated Press. "If that fight happens, that's good for me and the fans, because the fans are very eager to see that fight.

"People want to see a good fight," he said moments later, "between me and him."

But, for now, Mosley is in Pacquiao's sights, and that's the focus. Fans have said that "Sugar" Shane is too far past his prime to give Manny much trouble. But, Pac-Man's promoter, Bob Arum, and Pacquiao himself seem to believe otherwise.

Arum called him "the epitome of what we like a fighter to be," while Pacquiao called him one of the best of his generation.

"I respect and I really admire Team Mosley, because this is my first time to encounter an opponent where they're not talking trash," Pacquiao said. "In the ring, we'll have to forget we're friends and do our job and give everybody a good fight."

Mosley/Pacquiao will air on pay-per-view May 7 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

According to ESPN, tickets at the MGM Grand had nearly sold out by Monday (February 14), and closed-circuit tickets at casinos on The Strip are already on sale.

Mayweather is afraid to fight Pacquiao because he knows he will surely lose Pacquiao and he will be knocked out.

Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, he doesn't even seem to be livin'... until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin
