  • Kimbo Slice KOs Opponent In First Round Of Pro-Boxing Debut

Kimbo Slice looked like his old-self on Saturday night (August 13), when he knocked out novice boxer James Wade during his heavyweight boxing debut at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma.

At 37 years old, Slice KO'd his opponent very quickly into the first round, which was scheduled for four, with a vicious right uppercut landing flush on Wade's chin ... and that's all she wrote.

Wade didn't get up for some time -- actually, a full minute -- while medical staff tended to him.

The official time was just 17-seconds of the opening round and Slice (real name: Kevin Ferguson) improved to 1-0 as a professional boxer. The first step in a long road in the sport.

Reports said Wade had a record of 0-1, so it's clear that promoter Gary Shaw wants to bring the former MMA star along slowly. Especially since his credibility within the MMA world took a nose-dive, after being cut from UFC's "The Ultimate Fighter" and two lackluster fights as a fighter on the promotion's roster.

Despite his meteoric rise in MMA, and quick fall, Slice is still well-known ... and some critics feel he could have a future in boxing, if he's not rushed ahead -- because of his star power -- before he's ready.

His immediate plans, following the knockout win, were unknown at press time.

More or less, he belongs in boxing rather than mixed martial arts where he's street fighting ability's means absolute nana in that competition.
