Effective strikes? did GSP even land one effective strike judging how they looked at the end of the 5th round?

Ive seen plenty of fights where you thought "that they could just flip a coin to decide the winner" this imo was not one of those fights. That it was even a split decision doesn't make much sense too me.

Johny obviously had the octagon control both at the stand up and in the clinch positions. Johny had more takedowns i believe, and the once take downs that George landed Johny fairly easy got back up to his feat from.

Johny hurt George badly with almost each punch in the first 2 rounds, and George look like his legs where gonna give up at any second. Sure George came back and started to find his mark but that wasn't a very convincing performance imo. Johny didn't even have a mark on his face and GSP looked like he was gonna get ko'ed with each connecting punch.


It was just a horrible horrible call imo. Probably the worst in championship history due to the fact that George never had Johny in any kind of danger whats however and to be able to win rounds you should be able to at least hurt your opponent.

Look at Jon Jones and how he stole the whole fight from Gus in the 4 round after almost knocking him out, and Gus was leading that fight up til that point..

Having said that let's go back to this fight and how George did nothing at all to have him winning the fight regardless of him being the champ or not. You need to atleast do some things to make a lasting impression and i have a hard time figuring out what GSP did besides getting hit and dropped by punches..


It also tells alot about Dana Whites reaction after the fight. Dana even said that from a company stand point it's good that his top earner is still the king but that's not fair and Johny needs to get a rematch asap..


And the George wants to go on a hiatus lol. I saw if that's the case take the belt if his gone too long, don't let it become like with Cruz where he is out for 2 years or so lol

Well, they could always have an interim champion until GSP comes back.

My point exactly. I'm a long time GSP fan myself but i can't cheer for a victory that i didn't should have been one lol


And even if this is the worst call ive seen, there's been some really shitty once outside of Vegas aswell... Seems to me that the judges aren't educated in mma and that's why you get some shitty ass calls...

Nah man, GSP had more takedowns, he had like 3 versus 2 for johnny, and i believe gsp landed more shots aswell.

10 shots from GSP are the same as 1 hard punch from Johny, or something like that Dana said I think, and thats right. I guess GSP mastered the scoring point system.

I re watched the fight today and I had it that johny definitely won rounds 1 and 4 and GSP had rounds 3 and 5 for sure!

It gets tricky in round 2 but I would give it to GSP because after johny steam rolled George he didn't do too much after that and George was landing some clean shots.

Very close fight!! I feel bad for George getting shit on by Dana at the press conference.
